The 2011 JTHF Book Drive to benefit Cincinnati Children’s Hospital was a smashing success! With over 20 participating locations, the book drive collected a total of 3,268 items throughout the month of October (up 120 items from the 2010 total of 3,148). We received a variety of items, ranging from new and used books to DVDs to toys, games, art supplies, and other activities. This year’s donations totaled an estimated $8,116.50 in value!

We received plenty of support from the community, as always. All Lakota early childhood centers, elementary, and junior schools participated in the program, as well as St. John the Evangelist Church in West Chester, Mount Notre Dame High School, Cincinnati Country Day School, and Elder High School.

One of our biggest contributors was Liberty Early Childhood School, whose PreK-1 students rallied around the program like they do each year. Led by teacher Ledra Bugg, the school implemented a math program based on the book drive. Thank you to LECS and all of the book drive’s many supporters.
