The Third Annual Robert Jackson Golf Classic took place on behalf of the Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation (JTHF) at the Beckett Ridge Country Club on Monday, October 1, 2007.

Nearly 132 golfers participated in the event with a few familiar faces including: former Bengals Robert Jackson, Louis Breeden, Isaac Curtis, Jim Breech, Barney Bussey, John Simmons, and David Fulcher as well as former Red Mo Sanford and former Olympic basketball star “Big” George Wilson.

The shotgun start began at 8:30 a.m. and play was steady most of the morning with the exception of a short shower. Afterwards, the golfers were treated to a delicious lunch provided by Outback Steakhouse Springdale in the country club’s banquet hall.

Awards were given out for the winners as follows:

  • First Place - Jeff Anton, Barney Bussey, David Fulcher and Mo Sanford
  • Second Place - Louis Breeden, Isaac Curtis, John Simmons and “Big” George Wilson
  • Longest Drive - Carl Waldibillig
  • Closest to the Pin - Mark Vandenberg
  • Putting Contest - John Arents
  • Chipping Contest - Carl Waldibillig
  • Last Place - Jim Benz, Tom Hayden, Dick Siegel and John Wilke

“Everyone had a great time golfing and we even had a waiting list this year. We are so thankful to our sponsors and all of our golfers who helped support the JTHF mission,” said JTHF president Tim Hayden. “When the community comes together we can be a powerful force in the fight against pediatric brain tumors.”

The annual golf classic was able to raise over $30,000 for JTHF with the help of over thirty sponsors. Sponsorship offers were even coming in as late as the day before the event and every dollar helps JTHF contribute to a cure. Volunteers made a large contribution again this year helping plan, organize and execute the event. Close to 25 volunteers led by Joan Baldasare helped make the day a success.

With a group of cheerful golfers and many repeat players, next year’s outing only promises to be bigger and better. Click here to find your favorite golfer in pictures of this year’s event.
