The NHL
Detroit Red Wings and the Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation (JTHF)
have partnered up to raise awareness about Pediatric Brain Tumors.
October is JTHF Book Drive Month and the Wings are helping out by
setting up collection stations at the entrances to Joe Louis Arena this
Thursday when the Red Wings take on the San Jose Sharks at 7:30PM.
Anyone donating a new children’s book, DVD, game or money will be
entered into a drawing to win an autographed item from one of the Red
Wing players.
Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock, a spokesperson for JTHF, had this
to say…”The Red Wings have a great and passionate fan base and we
encourage them to participate in this worthy cause. Raising awareness
and getting people involved will hopefully lead to a cure.” All items
collected at Thursday’s game will benefit the Children’s Hospital of
Central Michigan and will be distributed by the Red Wings players and
coaches on upcoming visits.
Jeffrey’s Book Drive is currently underway. Last year over 1500
books, games and movies were collected and distributed to Children’s
Hospitals in Cincinnati and Detroit.
