October 3, 2006
A near perfect day greeted a record number of golfers for this year’s event, which was hosted by former Cincinnati Bengal Robert Jackson. 130 registered golfers were greeted by a team of over 20 volunteers, along with over 40 sponsoring companies and individuals for a fun filled day of food, drinks, golf and fun. Robert had a few of his former teammates join us for what turned out to be a great day.

For the second year in a row, the weatherman was kind to us. The temperature reached 80 and the sun was out all day. The Brickman Group, led by their fearless captain Mark Davis set a JTHF Golf Outing record by turning in a scorecard of 55 (-17), which included 3 eagles, 11 birdies and 4 pars . They were followed by the Yelton’s Fine Jewelry group which recorded a 56. I think they took advantage of our liberal Mulligan Rule :) Pat McNally and Brian Cumberledge won the closest to the pin contest and Robert Rudy won the longest drive. The Nissan Altima, donated by Busam Nissan for the Hole in One contest, went unclaimed for the second year in a row.

The good news is the event grossed approximately $40,000 which put us over $250,000 raised for pediatric brain tumor research and scholarships since the organization was founded 2 years ago. Wow!

Thanks to Joan Baldasar and Cindy Hayden and their dedicated team of volunteers for working the registration table, selling raffle tickets, keeping the coolers stocked and for watching the contest holes. Thanks to Nancy Cleary for taking all the pictures and thanks to Holly Werden for all her help in getting things organized. Thanks to Shay Mills from the Outback Steakhouse on Rt. 4 for serving up lunch to the entire crew and thanks to the rest of our sponsors for making this a successful event. I have updated the entire list of sponsors on the event page of the JTHF website. Volunteers are the backbone of this foundation, without their help none of this would be possible. Thanks to everyone that I missed saying thanks too and special thanks to Robert Jackson for dedicating his time and energy to help the Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation achieve and exceed its goals.

Mark your calendars for next years event scheduled for Monday, October 1st, 2007.
Pictures of the event can be found here.
