I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank the following
individuals for assisting me with the Dinner. When I agreed to Chair the
Dinner, I knew it would be a lot of work. I had no idea just how much
work until we got going. Without all of you, I could not have done it.
Your efforts helped JTHF raise over $50,000 to be used in the fight
against pediatric brain tumors. Thank you, thank you, and thank you!
First and foremost, I need to thank my daughter, Emma. I was really
grumpy and "unavailable" for two months prior to the event. Emma,
however, tried to be understanding and she managed to maintain her “A”
average without any help from me. It was quite nice to learn that I no
longer need to manage her homework :) Who knew? I also want to thank her
for working all summer long having lemonade stands. She collected over
$200 which she used to purchase an electric scooter for the auction. Way
to go, Emma!
Words simply cannot express my gratitude to Jeanne Hayden and Beth
Goeglein. Jeanne & Beth solicited and collected all the donations for
the 50 Mystery Bags. Wow! The Mystery Bags were quite popular at the
Dinner. Jeanne & Beth also collected over half of the silent auction
items. As if that weren't enough, their efforts resulted in several
really big cash donations as well. These two did the job that everyone
is most hesitant to do - Ask! Your efforts are truly what made the
Dinner so profitable! I hope you're willing to help again next year :)
Thanks to the both of you also for hosting tables. Lastly, a special
thanks to Jeanne for listening to my "Dinner Commentary" for the last
three months. Moms are great listeners and I definitely needed one.
Thanks. You're the best :)
Jennifer Yun - Thank you so, so much for decorating the Mystery Bags
and making the table number "sports balls". The sports balls looked
great on top of the trophies! Your patience and willingness to do things
again and again was very much appreciated! Thanks, Jen.
Kathy Forman & Amy Thomas - I had nightmares about auction check-out
for months prior to the event. You guys were in the hot seat at
check-out, but you handled it like the pros that you are. I was SO, SO
happy to have two competent individuals handling the ordeal. Next year,
it will be easier :) Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! (Amy, now that I
know you're a jewelry junkie, I think I might know how to motivate you
to do it again). Kathy, thank you also for printing all the labels I
needed when my printer decided it wasn't equipped to handle label paper;
for helping Jeanne & I stuff and label over 500 invitations; for hosting
a table and helping to sponsor another table.
Ginny Summe, Joan Baldasare & Kathy Snyder - Thank you for giving me
your input at all of our meetings, doing whatever I asked you to do AND
hosting tables! Cindy is so lucky to have you as friends! Ginny, thank
you also for soliciting items for the auction :)
Shelly Hauer - Thank you so much for lending your creative touch and
sprucing up all the baskets! You definitely made them all look much
better. I especially appreciated your shrink wrapping efforts :)
Cindy Hayden - Thank you, Cindy, for giving me about two thirds of
the invitees addresses, for taking care of getting the table
centerpieces, and helping me wrap all the baskets. It was FUN wrapping
all the baskets with you & Shelly :)
Bev Rauen, Shelly Birdsong, Jill Knight, MaryAnn Meyer, Jenny Boles &
Julie Paeltz - I really appreciate your willingness to be table
hostesses. Thank you so, so much for encouraging your friends/family to
attend the event and for donating wine to the very popular wine cellar
auction item! (How is that wine, Joan?)
Denise Pitonyak, Julie Szawaluk, Ginny Summe, Kathy Forman, Cindy
Hayden, Jeanne Hayden, Tom Hayden, Tim Hayden, Joan Baldasare, Kathy
Snyder, John Siegel & Jen Yun - Thank you for helping me set-up the
auction the day of the event. With all of you there, we were able to
bust it out in four hours. Not too bad. Thank you. I had visions of not
having enough time to go home & change, but with everyone's help, we
were able to finish quickly.
Todd Forman - Thanks for recruiting and helping direct the High
School kids. You saw that I needed some assistance managing 17 teenagers
and you stepped in. Thank you :) And thanks to the volunteers from
Moeller, Ursuline and Mercy High Schools, we appreciated the help.
Joe Hayden & Brandon Neil - You guys win the raffle ticket selling
contest! Thanks for selling those raffle tickets, boys. Who could say
"no" to two cuties like you?
Thanks again, everyone! You are truly the best!
Denise
