The 1st annual Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation “Play Ball” Dinner and Auction was a huge success. We reached our goal of $50,000 in this inaugural event and our host, Tom Gamble from 1360 Homer, did a great job. Over 130 items were auctioned off and judging by looks on peoples faces they had a great time. We will have some pictures up on the website by the end of the week. I want to thank our major sponsors one more time and I look forward to having them back at future events. Thanks to Yelton’s for sponsoring the Jewelry Extravaganza, in which over $5,000 worth of quality merchandize was won by a few lucky key holders. Thanks to Silver Sponsors Wellington Orthopaedic & Sports Medicine, Montgomery, Rennie and Jonson, and finally to Rite Track. Thanks to Semi Surplus, Intelligent Micro Patterning, Inc., The Ohio State University, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Grant Thornton and Dr. John and Julie Szawaluk for being Table Sponsors. Special thanks to our chairperson Denise Siegel and her endless list of volunteers.

The evening’s program featured video clips from Children’s Hospital and Ohio State University. This was followed by a heart warming video about the problems facing families affected by pediatric brain tumors and the steps JTHF is taking to make a difference in the fight. Then a major announcement was made by JTHF president, Tim Hayden, regarding a Postdoctoral Endowed Fellowship Fund that has been established at The Ohio State University James Cancer Hospital and the Solove Research Institute. Details regarding this announcement will be addressed in an upcoming press release.

Tom Gamble presided over the fun and games portion by emceeing the Sports Trivia Game and the evening was capped off with an entertaining Live Auction that raised thousands of dollars for the Foundation. Items included: Signed jersey from Cincinnati Bengal Hall of Famer, Anthony Munoz, a signed authentic Cincinnati Bengal helmet from Heismen Trophy and Pro Bowler Carson Palmer, a racing helmet from current NASCAR Nextel Cup Points Champion Tony Stewart, the opportunity to throw out the first pitch at an upcoming Cincinnati Reds game, a signed Steve Yzerman Detroit Red Wings jersey, a Sony 32” LCD HD TV and finally a Big Night Out sponsored by the Bonefish Grill.

Pictures have been posted on the Events section of the website (click here).
