The second annual Jeffrey T. Hayden Memorial Award was presented at the Lakota Ridge Fall Sports Awards Banquet on October 26, 2005. This award is given out each fall to just one of the almost two hundred 7th and 8th grade student-athletes. Each coach nominated 2 athletes which gave the selection committee 14 deserving candidates to choose from. The list was then narrowed down to 3 and the tough decision was finally made.

This year’s award was presented to Lakota Ridge 8th grade student-athlete Josh Freson. Josh, a football player at Lakota Ridge, was chosen for the award because he exemplifies the special characteristics of Jeffrey Hayden. Josh is a good friend to others, who works hard in practice and on game day, and most of all, excels in the classroom. In addition, Josh was chosen because he is a positive influence to those around him and courageous in the face of adversity. As part of the award, Josh received an individual plaque and his name will be engraved on a permanent plaque that is on display at Lakota Ridge Junior School.

Congratulations Josh!
