The
first annual Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation 5K Walk/Run was a huge
success. The weather was perfect, the park was gorgeous and the turnout
exceeded our expectations. The final numbers will take a few weeks to
calculate but preliminary estimates show that over 425 people
participated in the event and more than $35,000 was raised for the
foundation.
Students from over 20 different schools came out to take part in the
walk. Over $4000 worth of door prizes, coupons, and product were given
away, including over 500 burgers from Outback in Springdale, 800 drinks
from various sponsors, 200 Chiquita banana’s and hundreds of snacks and
energy drinks from Kraft.
Over the next two weeks JTHF volunteers will be delivering the sports
balls, bags, and pullovers to those walkers and runners that reached
those bonus levels. Also, if you pre-registered and were unable to make
it, you can still receive your goodie bag filled with coupons, t-shirt
and water bottle by contacting Kate Miller at .
The winner of the Mini iPod was Carl Margraf. The winner of the iPod
Shuffle is Robert Jackson.
Thanks to all of our sponsors, including title sponsor Fifth Third
Bank, our major sponsors Wellington Orthopaedic, Outback in Springdale,
Yelton’s Fine Jewelry, Cinergy, Cincinnati Bell, Small Tech Tools,
DeGeorge Ceilings, Dan and Judy King (Sibcy Cline), Lakota Schools,
Chiquita and Chris Boerger DDS from Forest Fair Family Dental, and all
of our associate sponsors. A complete listing of all sponsors will be
posted on the website’s event page. Thanks to On Site Uniforms for
helping us with our t-shirts and thanks to CDW for donating the Mini
iPod. Special thanks go out to Kate Miller and her awesome team of
volunteers for putting on a great event. Also, thanks goes out to Beth
and Tim Goeglein for their special surprise gift at the after walk
party.
