December 18, 2004
Today We are making progress with the Foundation. Thanks to our many friends and family we have raised over $35,000 and we are well on our way to getting things organized for the upcoming year. We hope to have all the Contribution Acknowledgements and Thank You’s mailed out by the end of this week. If you made a contribution to the Foundation, either through Fifth Third Bank or directly to us, and you have not yet received a formal acknowledgement letter from us, please contact me so we can take care of that. Jeff’s Foundation is a registered 501(3)c organization and your contributions are tax deductible.

Donations have been made from The Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation to the following organizations… The Brain Tumor Action Network, CaringBridge.com, Lance Armstrong Foundation, Lakota Schools and Children’s Hospital. Plans are underway to support the Child Wellness Fund, Make a Wish and CancerFree Kids in 2005.

Also, we have received a new shipment of yellow wristbands from the Lance Armstrong Foundation. We have hundreds of both adult and youth sizes available. Wristbands can be obtained by making a tax deductible contribution to the Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation. Contact me for more details.

We are in the process of forming committees to handle the various fundraisers and projects that the Foundation will oversee in 2005. We are planning on two major Fundraisers in 2005. The first will be a 5K walk/run sometime in the spring and the second will be a Golf Outing in the fall. In addition, we plan on several smaller fundraisers; such as a Night Out at Max & Erma’s, Bowling Party at Princeton Bowl, Hockey Night with the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks, The October Book Drive benefiting Lakota Schools, and anything else we can think of to help the Foundation. We are currently looking for volunteers for these committees, so please contact Cindy or myself if you have any interest.

In addition to the formal fundraisers we look to open an on-line store in 2005 that will sell JTHF approved merchandise such as books, music, shirts, hats, jewelry and various cancer awareness items. If you have a product or an idea of something that you want to sell through the on-line store, then give me a call.

Finally… we have begun work on the Pediatric Brain Tumor Resource Center. This will be part of the website and will include a database called “TumorTracker” that will be used to collect valuable information that will be used by parents of children with newly diagnosed brain tumors. We have begun assembling a Medical Advisory Board to help us with the data collection efforts and we are excited at the support and the interest that we are receiving. We hope to announce one of our national spokespersons and several members of the Advisory Board next month.

We will be updating you on the progress each month, so check back for more details.
