Today the Kanata Kougars, a U-15 girls soccer team from Kanada, Canada, presented a check in the amount of $1,900 to Ottawa Senators Foundation chairman, Dave Ready, for the Roger Neilson House. Coach Mike Roossien and the girls made the contribution in memory of Jeffrey Hayden.

The Roger Neilson House will be a place similar to the Ronald McDonald House where children battling cancer and their families can stay while undergoing treatment at nearby Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).

Roger Neilson was a wonderful man and friend to everyone. The long time NHL coach lost his battle to cancer in the summer of 2003. Jeff Hayden was friends with team member Taylore Shaw and visited Ottawa in July and got to watch the team play.

The Jeffrey Thomas Hayden Foundation wishes to thank the Kanada Kougars for their generous gift to the Roger Neilson House. Special thanks to Taylore and Mary Shaw for honoring Jeff’s memory by helping families affected by this horrible disease!
